Aga Khan Palace
Commissioned in 1892 by Sultan Muhammed Shah Aga Khan III to help neighbouring people during a famine, this beautiful monument stands on a 6.5-hectare plot. The palace became a site of national interest as Mahatma Gandhi, his wife Kasturba Gandhi and sectary Mahadeobhai Desai were interred here along with other freedom fighters from 1942. Kasturba Gandhi and Mahadeobhai Desai died here, the monument was donated to the Gandhi Smarak Samittee in 1972. Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum
A collection of various things, this museum houses 20,000 of the items accumulated by Baba Dinkar Kelkar in his life. There are many interesting artefacts from around the country including Moghul lamps, paintings, pottery and a replica of the Mastani Mahal.
Joshi's Museum of Miniature Railway
If you are a model train enthusiast then this museum should definitely be on your to do list. Built by Bhau Joshi over 10 years, this mini city has found mention in the Limca Book of Records. Shaniwar Wada
Built in 1736 by Bajirao-I, the Peshwa ruler, is an imposing 13- storey palace. Though intended to be a magnificent testament to the Peshwa Empire it has had a sad history. The Peshwas lost their kingdom to the British in 1818 and in 1828 a massive fire broke out destroying much of the structure. Shaniwar Wada is now considered to be one of the most haunted places in Pune.
